New Year's Resolution: Wake Up Early
A few months back Jonathan Rusk wrote a blog entry called: Mind Over Mattress. I didn’t give it much thought at the time, but now that 2014 is here and people are trying out their new resolutions it seems worth revisiting. Robin Sharma‘s video “How to Wake Up Early” is a good old fashioned, high-octane pep-talk which teaches you how to wake up at 5 a.m. and gives good strong reasons why you should follow his regimen.
The premise is simple: Wake up at 5 a.m. to prepare your body and mind for the day. This helps you to be proactive rather than reactive. So what’s his plan? According to Robin, it 66 days of practice to create a habit. He is a big proponent of the 20/20/20 rule. 5:00-5:20 is dedicated to exercise (which releases dopamine). The next 20 minutes (5:20-5:40) are dedicated to review your plan/schedule/goals for the day. The last 20 minutes (5:40-6:00) are dedicated to learning.
I won’t ever do the plan justice that Robin does, so watch his video for more. What do you think, will you join the 5 a.m. club? Leave us a comment below and let us know how it’s going.
